CALL FOR PROPOSALS
COMPASS CURRICULUM COURSE DEVELOPMENT GRANTS
DUE DATE: Friday Oct 9, by 5 pm to compass@uccs.edu
The Compass Curriculum invites faculty to submit course development proposals for all areas of
the Compass Curriculum.
ELIGIBILITY:
All UCCS faculty, including tenured, tenure-track, instructors (full- and part-time), lecturers, and
full-time non-tenure track faculty (including attendant, adjoint and other ranked faculty
appointments) are eligible for this award. Applicants must have at least three semesters of
teaching experience at UCCS.
Awards will be limited to a maximum of $1000 stipend per course per faculty member dispersed
as additional pay. Up to two faculty members can submit a grant together to develop the same
course.
The Compass Curriculum will fund up to two proposals per academic year per faculty member
for Compass course development grants.
Faculty who have not previously received funding for course development from the Compass
Curriculum will receive priority consideration for funding.
Awards will be based on merit of the proposal and the curricular needs of the Compass
Curriculum.
Awards are for development of courses for the Compass Curriculum. Proposals should focus on
the work that the faculty member(s) will undertake after receiving the grant. Proposals should
explain the course revisions or development and rationale. Modification of existing courses or
development of new courses are both appropriate.
Courses submitted in the areas of Navigate, Sustainability, and Summit (the communication
portion in particular) may have priority in funding for course development. Courses with
multiple flags (Inclusiveness, Sustainability and Writing Intensive) will also be reviewed
favorably. However, proposals for ALL AREAS (to include Writing Intensive, Inclusiveness,
and Explore) are expected to be funded.
Faculty must secure the approval and support of their department or program chair prior to
applying for this award.

The $1000 faculty stipend will be disbursed in two payments. The faculty member will receive
half of the stipend, $500, when the proposal is approved for development. The second half of the
stipend will be paid when the faculty member submits the course for approval by the Compass
Curriculum Committee. Courses must be submitted by the end of Spring 2016 in order to be
eligible for the full stipend. For details about course submission Compass Faculty Homepage Then
