Clark College professor receives Outstanding Educator Award
The National Communication Association has selected David Kosloski as the 2009 recipient of the
Community College Outstanding Educator Award at the 95th Annual Convention of the NCA, the oldest association dedicated to the communication discipline.
This award is given to an NCA member who has a minimum of five years’ experience of teaching, scholarship, and service within the communication discipline. Kosloski is a professor and debate coach at Clark
College, who over the past 11 years has successfully led its debate team.
“I was both thrilled and honored when I was told I had received this award,” said Kosloski. “Though teaching has its own rewards, it's icing on the cake when your colleagues recognize your efforts, as well.”

Clark Public Utilities reports record demand for electricity
Clark County consumers used a record amount of electricity this morning with a utility report showing a peak demand of 1,115 megawatts between 7 and 8 a.m. That breaks a record of 1,063 megawatts set in
December 1998.
High demand puts a stress on electric system lines and equipment. However, only a few small outages have occurred this week.
During this cold spell, Clark Public Utilities encourages its customers to use energy wisely. Here are some suggestions that could help reduce energy use: check furnace filters and clean or replace them when necessary, keep heat registers and returns clear of furniture or other objects, keep fireplace dampers and glass doors closed when the fireplace is not in use, and cover foundation vents to keep your crawl space warmer.
The Port of Camas-Washougal releases results of public survey
According to port officials, 240 citizens completed surveys during a four-month period from August through November. The surveys were distributed to businesses and residents in Camas and Washougal by direct mail, through port announcements and newsletters, and were also made available electronically at the port website.
The survey asked local citizens for input on communication preferences and opinions on port properties such as the popular marina, Grove Field airport and the industrial park. The results are now available to the public at the port website, www.portcw.com
