Come listen and watch composer Stephen Lias and instrumental faculty recital.
Clybourne Park (3points)
Directed by Zach Hanks. Winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for drama,
Clybourne Park was written in response to the class A Raisin in the Sun (which
the School of Theatre produced to enthusiastic audience response in 2010). In
Raisin, an African American family in 1959 is moving to a white Chicago
neighborhood called Clybourne Park. The first act of the play is set at the same
time, in the house that the family is buying. The second act is set in the same
location 50 years later. The tables are turned (a white family now seeks to buy
the house from a black family), but many painful issues are still unresolved.
Passionate, balanced, funny and as timely as this morning’s headlines, this is a
play for every American to see and to ponder.
