INFORMATION STATEMENT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN in terms of section 33 of the Local Government:
Municipal Finance Act, No. 56 of 2003 that the City of Cape Town Metropolitan
Municipality (“the City”) intends entering into a contract relating to PROVISION OF
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES IN RESPECT OF THE DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION
OF PHASE 2A INFRASTRUCTURE: STATIONS. The contract will impose financial
obligations on the Municipality for a period longer than three (3) financial years.
Public Comment on the draft contract is herewith sought.
The City of Cape Town has on its annual Budget 2015/16 (as well as its multiyear (5)
expenditure plan) made provision for this project. The contract value is estimated to
be R40 million.
In November 2014 the City of Cape Town issued a tender for the provision of
professional services to facilitate the design and construction of bus stations to serve
Phase 2A of the integrated rapid transit for the Lansdowne Wetton Corridor. The
section will extend on the M9 from Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain to Wynberg and
Claremont respectively. The Service Provider shall be responsible to manage all
aspects of their project. This includes:







Review the concept designs of the stations regarding location, size, platform
numbers and universal access;
Interface and co-ordinate with the Civil Engineering Service Providers for
trunk routes;
Carry out specialised testing, geotechnical site investigations and
topographical surveys;
Facilitate public participation;
Compiling a detailed design, technical project specification and tender
documentation;
Manage, administer and monitor the construction contract;
Closure of Project
A detailed project specification as contained in Tender 193C/2014/15 “IRT:
PROVISION OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES IN RESPECT OF THE DESIGN &
CONSTRUCTION OF PHASE 2A INFRASTRUCTURE: STATIONS” is available on
the City of Cape Town’s website. It is also available for inspection and public
comment at all Sub-Council offices and Municipal Libraries.
