Featured Crew: CUSTODIAL
September 2009
The custodial staff in Facilities Services Department
consists of 21 full-time employees and 2 permanent
part-time employees. Our
team is managed by custodial supervisor, Monroe
McDade (Mac) and two
leads, Jimmie Robinson and
Cynthia Hudgins. We service nine general funded
buildings including Science,
Dwire, University Hall, Columbine, SCENG, Engineering, Library, Main Hall, Cragmor, and Campus Services,

On June 1, 2009, the custodians unified staffing hours to
4:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm. Monday thru Friday. Our staff is
doing their best to ready the
buildings for each busy day.
With the kick off of this new
school year, one of our main
concerns and focus is to keep
our university as clean and
sanitary as possible. Hand
sanitizing stations have been
installed in all serviced
buildings at high traffic locations, to help keep down the
spread of germs. Also, small
hand sanitizers have been
placed in classrooms for all
to use. The custodial staff is
now sanitizing restrooms
twice daily, first thing in the
morning, then again around
noon time. The goal is to do
our part to keep everyone as
healthy as possible. We
have also assigned staff to
clean and sanitize restrooms
on the weekends.

campus patrons being our
number one priority.
The SENG Building had its
grand opening on August

the use of the Science building
is limited to The Art Gallery,
The Auditorium and four classrooms on the first floor.
It won’t be too long before
snow will set in for the winter.
When it begins to fly, our custodial crew will be doing their
part to clear entrances and
Because of dire need for classroom space, classes will go on
as scheduled in the Auditorium
and the north classrooms
through the course of construction. While this challenges the
construction team, we welcome the chance to work
closely with the campus community to make this a successful experience for all involved.
To work effectively without
unduly interrupting classes,
we have gone to night shift
construction hours beginning
September 14.
