DENVER BRONCOS QUOTES (11/25/15)
QUARTERBACK BROCK OSWEILER
On if his parents made it home safely after their trip to Chicago
“Parents made it back safe and sound—a lot easier than getting there.”
On if this week has more of a sense of normalcy than last week
“Everything really feels the same exact way. The only thing that's different is now this is the second time I've done the press
conference. Other than that, everything feels exactly the same.”
On if his performance in Chicago boosted his own confidence
“It helps a lot. Obviously, I think the majority of the players in the National Football League are very confident in their abilities to
perform at this level. If you're not, you're going to have a tough time playing out there. Anytime you can go out there and
cement that with a win on the road and things like that, obviously that helps with your confidence.”
On being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
“You know, I didn't believe it at first. I really didn't. I thought everybody was joking with me. I told some people that I think really
the biggest thing about that award—obviously, I'm very excited, I've very appreciative for it—but I think it's a huge credit to our
team and it's a huge credit to our offense. There is no way I get that award if [WR] Demaryius [Thomas] doesn't catch a ball and
take it 50 yards into the end zone or if [WR] Cody [Latimer] doesn't step up and make a big play in the fourth quarter or if our
offensive line doesn't create the holes that they did all day for the running game. Really that award is just a huge credit to the
whole offense and the rest of the team.”
On if his first start with his family in attendance or his second start against Patriots QB Tom Brady is more significant
“I think the first start—just getting that first one under your belt. Like I told you guys last week, at the end of the day, it's just a
football game. No offense or anything, but you guys are the ones who build it up and the fans build it up on social media and
things like that. Chicago, at the end, was a road football game. This Sunday against the Patriots is a home football game against a
great opponent.”
On if getting a win in his first start gives him more confidence
“Yeah, exactly. Kind of like I just answered over here, I was very confident in my abilities to lead this football team and lead this
football team to a victory. Then to go out there and do that last Sunday just kind of cements that.”

On QB Peyton Manning's mindset
“I have not talked to Peyton much about his injury or anything like that. Peyton has been great to me. He was in meetings today.
He's talking me through all of his past experiences going against the Patriots and whatnot. He was out here at practice once
again helping me out, asking me questions. Peyton has been a great teammate. Obviously, I love having him around. It's a great
brain to pick.”
On his thoughts on facing a team coached by Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick
“Obviously, what Coach Belichick has accomplished in the past decade, 15 years is maybe second to none. He's a tremendous
football coach and I have huge respect for what they've accomplished as an organization, but at the end of the day, I'm not going
against Bill Belichick on Sunday. I'm going against their defense and their football team. This is going to be two football teams
going against each other. I'm not big into the one-on-one matchups. Obviously, I have huge respect for what he has done as a
coach, what he does schematically on defense, but it's just a football game at the end the day and 11 guys are going to line up
against 11 guys.”
On what makes the Patriots unique on defense
“What makes them unique? Shoot, they have a lot of talent on that side of the ball. They've spent a lot of first- and second-round
picks on their players on that side of the ball. The thing I think that's special about them is they all play hard. They all play like it's
their last play, and you can really see that on tape. Their defensive backs get after receivers at the line of scrimmage. They're
really physical. Their defensive line—they've been causing a lot of chaos for quarterbacks. They've been getting to the
quarterbacks. I think [Patriots DE] Chandler Jones is over 10 sacks at this point in the year. I think they just play extremely hard.
They know their scheme inside and out and they execute their scheme.”
On what the team did to help his nerves last week
“I think it was just kind of coming together as a team during the week. There were a couple of moments in practice where maybe
I would make a good play and a guy like [S] T.J. [Ward], [CB] Aqib [Talib] or somebody like that would run up, slap me on the butt
and say, 'Great job.' It was just knowing that support was there from my teammates.”
On the last sack he took against the Bears
“We were in a situation where—we call it our four minute offense—we're trying to keep the clock running at all times and,
obviously, protect the football, so two things there. We were just running a little keeper and the guy that was my first read was
completely covered. I was told on the sideline if it's not clean and it's not wide open, keep the clock running, fall down and take a
sack. I was just doing what I was coached to do.”
On if a flag would have been thrown for a late hit if he had more experience
“That's not up to me to decide. I think that you guys saw my opinion on Sunday.”
On whether his first start was worth the wait after being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
“One thing that I do know was that it was worth the wait to be a Denver Bronco and play quarterback here. This is an extremely
special organization. One thing that I've had over the course of the past three and a half years was a lot of time to sit back and
observe. Just the way that we do things as an organization is extremely special here. To stay patient and wait for my turn, it's
very special to play quarterback for this football team.”
On if this is his team to lead this season
“All I know is that, right now, I'm playing quarterback this week. Kind of like I told you guys last week, that's where my focus is.
Last week, I kept my focus small. I kept it on the Bears defense and it seemed to work pretty well. This week, I know that I'm the
starting quarterback Sunday night against the Patriots, so I'm going to keep my focus small, I'm going to focus on the Patriots and
next Monday we can talk about the following week.”
On if it helped that Head Coach Gary Kubiak announced him as the starter from the beginning of the week
“I think that the biggest thing is knowing that you're going to get the first team reps. Throughout the week in game planning, you
put in new plays that maybe you've never repped before. If you're the backup, you're just out there and you're mentally going
through it acting as though you're the guy out there running the team. To be the starter and get all those practice reps is huge.”

On if it helps that he has played in a game against the Patriots before
“I was still confused on that. I was like, 'Coach, you want me to go in?' That has nothing to do with what's going to take place this
Sunday, but you're right. I have played one play against the Patriots.”
