( G D P) and employment in manpower .

employees and up ) unorganized private
sector .

unorganized private sector each 5 years
through economic census .
6- informal sector is not covered at all .
frame construction and data collection :
1- the main source of the distributive trade frame is the
establishment census each 10 years .This frame is
being classified by activity , number of employees ,
sector and legal entity . so it is being used as a frame
for each activity 2- this frame is being updated through
data collecting process during the field work as the data
are being collected personally by the employees of
CAPMAS regional offices in all the Egyptian
governorates .
data items :
Beginning 2007/ 2008 CAPMAS is going to use an unified
simplified questionnaire for all kinds of distributive trade
statistics .
Data items included
1- Identifying data of the establishment (name-addressactivity….etc)
2- number of employment by : sex education – job
3-wages ( different kinds of receipts )
4-purchases & sales
5-expences
6-revenues
7- fixed assets & real estates movements ( purchased – sold ..etc )

ISIC revision 4 is going to be used beginning 2007/2008
statistics .
statistical year :
fiscal year for public sector & calendar year for private
sector
note :
unformal sector and out doors sector are not covered at
all as no information are available .
no seasonal adjustment is applied Training on that
subject is needed not only for distributive trade statistics
but also for many other statistics .
statistical units :
statistical unit in distributive trade statistics is the establishment
.in case of a company that having different units in different
geographic locations , each unit is being collected separately
as possible . it must be an observative identifiable unit .
- sampling technique is not used in distributive trade statistics .
- sometimes when a company with different branches in
different governorate but doesn't have separate book
keeping process , the statisticians of head quarter make
estimates according to on available indicator to divide the
units geographer call or by activity .
Remarks On The Recommendations :
- CAPMAS has already updated the frame of distributive
trade statistics through the last establishment census
2006 ,it is noticed that the number of establishment in
both wholesale & retail trade is largely increased . so
the sampling technique will be a must .
- Also there is a recent discussion concerning the covering
of informal sector .may be CAPMAS will need
technique assistance about know how of that subject .
- ALL the recommendation will be in consideration as
possible . what will be suitable and feasible will be
applied.
