He pushes his way through the crowd and grabs Dimmesdale’s arm. He yells at him, trying to talk him out of confessing, for the sake of his reputation and honor.

She was afraid the townspeople would kill all three of them.

He knew he was dying, but felt it was God’s will that he were to bear his shame before his passing.

Since he claimed his relationship with her and Hester, she felt comfortable claiming him as her father.

They had remained silent during his confession, but broke out into a deep murmur once he revealed the mark on his chest and when he died.

1) some believed that he got the mark from hurting himself, others believed that the mark manifested from his guilt, and others believed that there wasn’t a mark and that he didn’t commit a sin.

2) She felt a connection to the place and that she belonged there

3) They don’t know for sure but some say she stayed in Europe, got married and had kids.

4) Because Dimmesdale died Chillingsworth didn’t have a purpose to do evil and get revenge

5) They committed the sin together, so they are connected and share a gravestone. However, the sin also prevents them from being too close because it was wrong.
