Welcome back, Sorors! I hope that you had a fantastic summer.
Thank you for all of your correspondence over the summer months
that helped our Chapter stay connected to one another and the
community. Please review the guidelines listed below that will help in
our correspondence process.
•All committee meetings, updates, announcements, etc. that you
would like included in the upcoming CAC Weekly Update should be
submitted each week, no later than Sunday, 5:00pm,
dst_cincinnati_alumnae@yahoo.com. You must write your own

week. If you have an exception/emergency, feel free to call 513-2583799.
•Please submit your info in the format as you would like for it to
appear in the update. Your info should be inclusive but brief, in
STANDARD TYPE AND FONT. Include pertinent info such as date, time,
location, contact person, email, phone number, etc. Only minor
editing will be done.
•Keep in mind that NOT EVERY FLYER/ATTACHMENT CAN BE INCLUDED.
Therefore, submit your info as bullet points that can be included in the
body of the update or send an attachment that is small in capacity.
•Please UPDATE YOUR CURRENT ADDRESS, EMAIL, PHONE NUMBERS,
ETC. with our Sergeant at Arms as you sign in for the Chapter Meeting.
Also, if you have information that is currently not on file for another
Soror, please provide it to us. We need correct information so that
we can keep you in the communication loop of CAC.

Delta Academy Report
September 2008
The 2008-2009 Delta Academy Program Year promises to be an exciting one!
We will introduce participants to careers in which minority women are under
represented and provide opportunities for real-life applications of math,
science, and technology through three exciting Learning Modules. Each
Learning Module will consist of two to three sessions in which the participants
will be introduced to a technical area, have the opportunity to meet and
interact with professionals in that field, and complete a related hands-on
experiment/project.
In the “iSPACE Blast Off” Learning Module, participants will be introduced to the
basic principals of rocketry and space travel. The activity will culminate with
participants launching their own model rocket outdoors. This module will be
conducted in collaboration with iSPACEohio.org.
In the “Bridge Building” Learning Module, participants will learn about sound
bridge design and construction to build their own model bridge. The exciting
conclusion of the module is a competition among participants for the strongest,
most efficient bridge.
In the “Lights! Camera! Action!” Learning Module, participants will learn how to
use audio and video equipment and editing software, to produce a short
video on a socially relevant topic of their choice that they will research. This
module will be conducted in collaboration with Media Bridges and the Black
Data Processing Association.
In addition to the three Learning Modules, Delta Academy participants will also
have the opportunity to volunteer at 2-3 community service events, participate
in the Fall Retreat, an all-day event conducted with the Delta G.E.M.S. Program
(Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully, girls ages 15-18) to build
relationships and leadership skills, as well as attend several youth programs such
as the College-Prep Workshop hosted by the Cincinnati Alumnae Chapter.
Applications must be postmarked or e-mailed by 9/26/08. Please send
applications to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Cincinnati Alumnae Chapter,
P.O. Box 37285 Cincinnati, Ohio 45222.
