"Many teens think an abusive relationship is
usually a guy hitting a girl and just beating her,c
observes one of the teens in this program about
abuse in adolescent relationships. What this young
woman already knows, and viewers will soon
discover, is that abuse comes in many different
forms, and it can be hard to recognize at first.
Teenagers of diverse backgrounds, speak frankly
about their experiences with dating violence. What
makes this program particularly unique are the
stories from a male victim as well as siblings and
friends. The program is organized into sections that
first raise awareness about how to identify abuse
and then answers important questions: What
happens next? Why not leave? When did you
realize? How do you get out? Who can help?
Where do you go from here? What would you tell
others? This program also raises awareness about
the various resources available for teachers,
counselors, friends, parents and how to encourage
bystanders to speak out.

The media regularly use public opinion polls in
their reporting of important news stories. But how
exactly do they report them and to what end? In
this interview, Professor Justin Lewis demonstrates
the way in which polling data are themselves used
by media to not just reflect what Americans think
but instead to construct public opinion itself.
Addressing issues such as the role the media play
in "manufacturing consent" for political elites, what
polls really tell us about public opinion, and what
Americans actually think about politics, the
program provides a new way to think about the
relationship between politics, media and the public.

"This video examines how the "good and evil"
rhetoric, in both the entertainment and the news
media, has helped children to dehumanize the
enemies, justify their killing and treat the suffering
of innocent civilians as necessary sacrifice"-This program focuses on Niels Bohr, who
worked with some of the best physicists of
the 20th century to devise his atomic model.
Students will gain an understanding of the
historical developments in atomic theories up
to Bohr, a brief outline of Bohr's life. Bohr's
first and second postulates, and his influence
on contemporary society.
Consuming Kids throws desperately needed
light on the practices of a relentless multibillion dollar marketing machine that now
sells kids and their parents everything from
junk food and violent video games to bogus
educational products and the family car.
Drawing on the insights of health care
professionals, children's advocates, and
industry insiders, the film focuses on the
explosive growth of child marketing in the
wake of deregulation, showing how youth
marketers have used the latest advances in
psychology, anthropology, and neuroscience
to transform American children into one of
the most powerful and profitable consumer
demographics in the world. Consuming Kids
pushes back against the wholesale
commercialization of childhood, raising
urgent questions about the ethics of
children's marketing and its impact on the
health and well-being of kids."

Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky have
developed a comprehensive framework for
understanding how the news is produced and in
whose interests it works. They demolish one of the
central tenets of our political culture: the idea of the
"liberal media." Instead, they argue that the news
media are so subordinated to corporate and
conservative interests that their function can only
be described as that of "elite propaganda."
