• Now, think of a person. How is this person and
the summer day alike? How are they
different?

Sonnet 18 - Shakespeare
• In addition to tragedies and comedies,
Shakespeare wrote many sonnets. The topics
for most of his sonnets are love.
• It is common practice to refer to
Shakespeare’s sonnets using roman numerals;
therefore, sonnet 18 is written “Sonnet XVIII.”

• 5 minutes: Read the poem silently to yourself.
• 5 minutes: Listen to teacher read the poem.
• 5 minutes: Define any unknown vocabulary on
your vocabulary sheet.
