Biology Review Unit for Anatomy
Each of the following are activities that will be due on September . There is a written portion
for each activity that will need to be sorted in the order given on this sheet and stapled together.
Some activities may also require the signature of another person with whom you chose to work
with. All papers can be hand written unless otherwise indicated. You may work on them in any
order, unless otherwise indicated.
1. _______Cell Vocab-- Define the following terms in your own words. Be sure to explain what
each organelle’s function is and how it contributes to the cell as a whole.
Mitochondria (include basic info about Citric Cycle and Glycolosis), Golgi Apparatus,
Nuclear membrane, Ribosomes (rRNA), Peroxisomes, Lysosomes, Endoplasmic
Reticulum (smooth and rough), Plasma Membrane, Cytoskeleton, Vescicles.
2. ______ Research three types of specialized cells in the human body. Sketch a drawing of
each of the cells and label any parts you can. Write a descriptive paragraph for each
that explains how each cell has differentiated to have it’s form fit it’s function.
3. _____ Using the given beads in the boxes, or playdoe put together a model of a double
strand of DNA that is 4 codons long. Label the strand with the following terms:
Codon, Nitrogenous Base (A,T,C,G), Phosphate, Deoxyribose, and Hydrogen. Create
one mutation on your strand. Ask me to sign for your model after you are done
(there must be at least 10 min left in class when you ask me to sign). Make a sketch of
your model, including labels.
4. ______ Find a Youtube animation of Mitosis, and take notes on all it’s phases, and what takes
