POSITION PURPOSE: A Purchasing Analyst - Indirect (PA) will work with a Strategic
Commodity Manager (CM), whose purpose is to help ensure the cost effective supply of indirect
commodity category. The PA will support the SCM for a specific commodity (e.g. IT services)
with a focus on analytical and operational activities. Examples of such activities include, but are
not limited to: - Analytical activities:
 RFQ assessments and comparisons, cost structure modeling, various risk analyses (e.g.
currency exposure), material cost vs. value-add analyses, commodity profiling and
spend analyses
Operational activities:
 RFI and RFQ development from templates, compilation of component drawings for the
purpose of quote packages, workshop planning and coordination, performance data
tracking and reporting, internal presentation preparation, supplier
transition/implementation management (e.g. tracking and follow-up of implementation
milestones; escalating issues to SCM)
This position will interact with numerous functions within the organization and will report on an
assigned basis directly to a SCM (e.g. a PA may be assigned to help with Ariba project).
Organizationally, the PAs will be part of a resource pool managed and allocated by the Regional
Leadership . PAs will be focused on enabling the SCMs to meet their goals and objectives. The
primary performance targets for a PA will be based on their ability to carry out various analyses
and operational tasks, and the speed and accuracy at which the tasks are carried out.
POSITION PROFILE
Secondary performance targets will be based on the success of the PA and SCM achieving
their overall commodity targets.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
 Completion of analyses as assigned by SCM
 Systems updates and data integrity
 Perform special projects as required in support of departmental objectives
 Develop a solid working knowledge of certain commodity trends including: industry trends,
cost drivers, global pricing, material lead times, and technical/manufacturing processes
SUPPORTING ROLES:
 Assisting the SCM in successfully contracting suppliers to provide us with cost-optimized
commodities
 Assist Purchasing and Strategic Commodity Managers in the development and execution
of long-term supply strategy, landed cost modeling, supplier opportunity assessments,
supplier financial analysis, make/buy analyses, negotiations and long-term contract
establishment including LTA and ACRE;
 Work with SCM to support the Supplier Development processes including the coordination
and support on-site supplier assessment / certification audits and continuous
improvement activities that drive down total cost
 Investigate and inform Strategic Commodity Manager of new and/or alternate sources of
supply as necessary to support new product development, cost reduction requirements,
and/or supplier performance issues
 Support SCMs to ensuring quality components are provided to us.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: In addition to the previously described competency
proficiency levels, a general overview of the our company's Purchasing Analyst is as follows:
 University, College degree required
 additional benefits with academic training in business, economics and/or engineering
 Purchasing experience not required, but would be beneficial
 Working level English language skills (written and spoken) are a requirement
 Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite software including Excel, Word and
PowerPoint; Excel training should be demonstrated verbally or with real example during

the recruiting process. Proficiency in MS Access is not required but would be a
considerable asset
 CPIM or equivalent designation is not required, but shows a level of commitment to the
profession
 Experience with ERP systems is a benefit
