Summary:
Confirming our mission, reviewing historical planning data as well as current strategies for our
parent institutions (Cooper University Hospital and Rowan University). Review of SWOT
analysis and survey data.
We discussed the overarching themes that we would use to inform the next step.

Prior to revisiting our Vision, we discussed what the ‘Brand’ of CMSRU (i.e. – how we plan to
be recognized and known by our peers and our future students) will encompass and came up with
the following attributes:
1. Innovative leader in medical education, healthcare delivery
2. Educate medical students to be future physician leaders
3. Create a culture of service/ emphasis on treating the underserved
Original vision:
Cooper Medical School of Rowan University will distinguish itself as a leader in medical
education with a programmatic emphasis on patient-centered care, patient safety, innovative
healthcare delivery systems, research, and preventive health programs that meet the needs and
challenges of patient-care in the 21st century.
Updated Vision:
Cooper Medical School of Rowan University will distinguish itself as an innovative leader in
medical education and related research with emphasis on healthcare delivery to the
underserved that meets the needs and challenges of patient-care in the 21st century.
Prior to our discussion on Goals, we talked about Measures of Success, including:

-Review the new DRAFT of CMSRU vision and make edits/updates. Based on additional
feedback, committee will revisit and reach an updated version. The goal will be for the
committee to land on an acceptable version prior to next meeting.
