Cell Theory
Structure and function of plant and animal cells
Different cells and the way they are organised influence their
functioning as well as the functioning of the organism
Structure and function of cell organelles
Cellular respiration and photosynthesis
Role of enzymes in cellular activities and reactions

Students will be able to:
 Describe the difference between plant and animal cells
 List the organelles found in plant and animal cells and describe their

Describe the importance of the cell membrane

Describe the importance of enzymes and what variables affect them
Identify and formulate questions and hypothesis
Design, manage and carry out experiments to investigate aspects of
cell structure and function
Collect, organise and interpret experimental data
Apply and link ideas related to cell structure and function to explain
phenomena in a range of situations
Analyse and evaluate experimental data to draw justified
conclusions and make recommendations
Evaluate the relevance, authenticity, accuracy, bias and reliability of
