The recommended text for all sessions
of Gardening Study is Botany for
Gardeners, Third Edition, by Brian
Capon. It is not available from NGC but
can be ordered from Amazon. Living
With Plants (Review chapters 6-9)
from Amazon is even better. Also
required is a subscription to The
National Gardener, published by
National Garden Clubs, Inc. A threeyear subscription is $21.00.

Gardening Study School is a series of
four courses covering basic botany,
soils, annuals, perennials, trees and
shrubs, fruits and vegetables, lawns,
pests and diseases of plants, plant
classification, propagation, pruning,
and selected topics of local interest.
The courses do not have to be taken in
order. Garden club members
successfully completing all four
courses and passing the exams will
receive a certificate and the status of
Accredited Gardening Consultant. The
general public may take the courses
and may attain Consultant status by
joining a garden club during the
course series or shortly after
completion. Certificates must be
renewed within five years according to
NGC procedures. Upon renewing for
the fourth time, a Master Status is
granted.
