Vivid Vocab Sentences
1. Placid: As the wind whistled in the soft breeze, I dipped my shivering toes in the lake’s placid water.
Meaning: Not easily upset or excited. Calm and peaceful, with little movement or activity.
2. Magnanimous: The lady was magnanimous to the poor busker when she gave him a $20 dollar note.
Meaning: Generous and forgiving, especially towards a rival or less powerful person.
3. Obnoxious: Cowering in the classroom, the boy was scared of the bullies outside.
Meaning: Extremely unpleasant. Very disagreeable, hateful.
4. Eminent: Performing on stage, the popular eminent band played their first new song.
Meaning: Famous and respected within a particular sphere.
