Please provide a concise, yet comprehensive, statement that explains the reasons for requesting
the change. Include documentation or assessment information supporting the specific request (if possible).
The department is requesting a curriculum change for the following reasons:
 Strategic Communications faculty determined that an introductory course specific to
strategic communications would best meet the needs of Strategic Communications majors.
MCOM 1173 Strategic Communications Writing is replacing MCOM 1133 Media Writing.
 MCOM 4113 Organizational Communication Capstone - capstone is added to the title to
clearly identify the capstone course in the major.
 MCOM 2643 Non-Linear Editing is being replaced with MCOM 2033 Media Production.
