Targets
1. Distinguish between a scalar and a vector.
2. Add and subtract vectors by using the graphical method.
3. Use the Pythagorean theorem and tangent function to calculate the
magnitude and direction of a resultant vector.
4. Resolve vectors into components using the sine and cosine functions.
5. Add vectors that are not perpendicular.
6. Recognize examples of projectile motion.
7. Describe the path of a projectile as a parabola.
8. Resolve vectors into their components.
9. Apply kinematic equations to solve problems involving projectile motion.
10. Describe situations in terms of frame of reference.
Practice and Homework Problems
For each chapter, I will give you a list of suggested practice problems for you to review and solve. Sometimes
I will assign certain sections as homework. You will also receive practice worksheets that I usually collect for a
homework grade. For anything that I don’t grade as an assignment, I will post the answers in the homework
binder on my desk for you to check.
