Choose one of the following projects and complete it based on your novel. You
will be presenting your project, and therefore your book, to the class.
Write a paper describing the goals, dreams, and motives behind a main character in the novel.
This must be one page typed.
Write a scene that could have happened in the book, but did not. Explain the effect it would
have had on the novel. Should be one page typed.
Create a soundtrack that could be used if the novel were ever produced as a movie. You must
include at least 8-10 songs and 2-3 sentences explaining the significance of each song.
Write an opinion column like those that appear on the editorial page of the newspaper. Choose
a theme or topic from the novel you just read and write the column from the point of view of
one of the characters. Your character might write about the importance of education or why we
should accept people who are not like us.
Imagine that you are the author of the book you have just read. Suddenly the book becomes a
best seller. Write a letter to a movie producer trying to get that person interested in making
your book into a movie. Explain why the story, characters, conflicts, etc., would make a good
film. Suggest a filming location and the actors to play the various roles. YOU MAY ONLY USE
BOOKS WHICH HAVE NOT ALREADY BEEN MADE INTO MOVIES.
Write and perform an original song that tells the story of the book.
Design a book jacket for the book. I STRONGLY suggest that you look at an actual book jacket
before you attempt this.
Rewrite the story for younger children in picture book form. Must be at least 7 pages long and
be illustrated. You may want to look at the format of a children’s book first.
Design an advertising campaign to promote the sale of the book you read. Include each of the
following: a poster, a radio or TV commercial, a magazine or newspaper ad, a bumper sticker,
and a button.
