Corporate Financial Reporting
Prerequisites

Description
A study of corporate financial accounting and reporting topics, including income and expense
recognition, recording of assets and liabilities, and financial statement presentation.
Objectives: On completion of the course, you should be able to:

Demonstrate an understanding of corporate financial accounting topics.
Demonstrate an ability to analyze financial accounting problems.
Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of foreign exchange fluctuations.
Demonstrate an understanding of off-balance sheet financing.
Be able to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows and/or reconcile it with the Income Statement
and the Balance Sheet using the indirect method.
Describe how to adjust financial statements for changes in accounting (principles, estimates,
and errors) and how these changes impact financial ratios.
Demonstrate an understanding of the major differences in reported financial results when using
US GAAP vs. IFRS and the impact on analysis.
Demonstrate an understanding of fair value accounting.
Identify the determinants and indicators of earnings quality.
Purpose
This course should enhance your preparation for the financial accounting and reporting requirements in
management accounting certifications exams. Upon successful completion of this course, you should be
able to read and comprehend financial information in the form of financial statements and footnotes,
i.e., you should be able to read and comprehend a company’s annual report.
