What is the difference DAISY XML
and a full DAISY book?
DAISY XML is to a DAISY Book what
blueprints are to a finished building.
 A DAISY XML file is a container of
information with instructions about how the
information will be presented
 DAISY books are the compiled results of a
DAISY XML file
Create a DAISY digital talking book
(DTB)

Use DAISY pipeline to create a full DAISY
talking book.
• Download the software at
http://www.daisy.org/projects/pipeline/
Create other accessible content
from DAISY XML cont.
Braille
 MP3 files
 Large print
 Html files
 EPUB

Creating Braille from DAISY XML

Braille
 Using Duxbury you can take the Save as
DAISY xml file and create good Braille
 The potential to format a document once and
then derive multiple output formats is a
recognized benefit of DAISY and a worthy
goal for any workflow
Note:
There are still some problems with DAISY to Braille production.
This is improving all the time and Duxbury and the DAISY consortium
are working hard to produce the best possible Braille from DAISY
content
