A summary of what the Bible teaches

1. The world as God made it
God is the loving ruler of the world
He made the world
And he made us to rule the
world under his authority
Revelation 4v11
The Bible says…
‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to
receive glory and honour and power, for
you created all things, and by your will they
were created and have their being.’
(Revelation chapter 4 verse 11)
2. The way things are today
But each of us rejects God as
ruler. We try to run our life our
own way.
This is what the Bible calls sin. It
leaves us cut off from God now
and heading for eternal separation
from him.

Romans 3v10-12
The Bible says…
‘There is no-one righteous, not even one;
there is no-one who understands, no-one
who seeks God. All have turned away, they
have together become worthless; there is
no-one who does good, not even one.’
(Romans chapter 3 verses 10-12)
3. The bridges that don’t work
Many people think they can bridge
the gap – by doing good or by
getting religious.
But nothing we do can get us across
to God’s side and deal with the
judgement we deserve

Hebrews 9v27
The Bible says…
‘…man is destined to die once, and after
that to face judgment’
(Hebrews chapter 9 verse 27)
4. God’s loving solution
In his love God sent Jesus into
the world to die in our place. On
the cross he took the punishment
we deserve so we might be
forgiven

1 Peter 3v18
The Bible says…
‘For Christ died for sins once for all, the
righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you
to God.’
(1 Peter chapter 3 verse 18)
5. A living hope
God then raised Jesus to life and
he returned to heaven. He has
now been made the ruler by God.
He is able to give new life and
will one day return to judge

The Bible says…
‘Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ ! In his great mercy he has
given us new birth into a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
from the dead…’

6. The choice we face
We are left with a choice – to
continue going our own way
and so face death and judgment
Or to accept Jesus
personally as rescuer and
ruler, and so be forgiven
and receive eternal life
with him
