Lesson Objectives:
1. Understand and write three basic trigonometric functions (cosine, sine and tangent) of acute angles using
given sides of the right-angled triangle
2. Find acute angle given trigonometric ratios
3. Solve right-angled triangles using the 3 trigonometric ratios
4. State the trigonometric ratios of the special angles of 30, 45 and 60 degrees.
Introduction
The trigonometric ratios of the sides of right-angle triangles can be found using the 3
functions: sine (sin), cosine (cos) and tangent (tan). On the other hand, the angles of the
right-angle triangles can be found using the 3 functions: 𝑎𝑟𝑐𝑠𝑖𝑛, 𝑎𝑟𝑐𝑐𝑜𝑠 and 𝑎𝑟𝑐𝑡𝑎𝑛.
