Samantha Wright Pd. 4 10/20/09 The first song on this CD is called Wonderwall by Oasis. This song relates to The Kite Runner because a lot of the lyrics remind me of Amir’s life. For example the line “and all the roads we have to walk along are winding and all the lights that lead us there are blinding.” This particular line in the song talks about how confusing the path of life can get, and you have to admit Amir’s life was a very confusing life. Also this song talks about someone saving someone else. “Because maybe your gonna be the one who saves me and after all you’re my wonderwall” is one of my favorite lines in this song. In The Kite Runner I truly believe Sohrah saves Amir, he gives Amir a reason to forgive himself. That is how this song relates to The Kite Runner. The second song on this CD is called Where is the Love? by the Black Eyed Peas. This song relates to this novel because it explains violence around the world and how there is no need for it. A specific line talks about terrorism, “Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism”, and in this novel there is a lot of terrorism with the Taliban’s toward the Hazara race. Also this song talks about people feeling so stressed out due to violence. “I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder. As I’m getting older, y’all, people gets colder”. This line in the song reminds me of Amir because he feels so guilty because of what he saw in the alley that winter of 1975, he feels the weight of the world on his shoulders. That’s how Where is the Love? relates to The Kite Runner. Samantha Wright Pd. 4 10/20/09 The Third song on the CD is called Here Without You by Three Doors Down. This song relates to The Kite Runner because it’s about how distance and time have separated people but these friends will never forget each other. One line that really sticks out at me is “A thousand lies have made me colder and I don’t think I can look at this the same.” This line pops out at me so much because it really describes Amir’s lies he has held in for so many years and the guilt that haunts him. Another line that reminds me of this novel is “Everything I know and anywhere I go it gets hard but it won’t take away my love ad when the last one falls, when it’s all said and done it gets hard but it won’t take away my love”. This line really describes Amir and Hassan’s never ending love for each other despite the troubles they both have been through and the distance and time that have separated them. That’s why this song really relates to The Kite Runner. The Fourth song on this CD is called Confessions of a Broken Heart by Lindsay Lohan. This song is about a Girl longing for a relationship with her father. Yes, I know Amir was not a girl but he was still a child longing for the approval of his father and a good relationship with his father. For example the line “I am crying, a part of me’s dying. And these are, these are, the confessions of a broken heart!” Throughout the beginning of this book Amir wanted Baba to approve of him and treat him like he approved of Hassan. That line is about a child breaking down inside because they are trying so hard for their father’s approval. Another line that popped out at me was “Daddy to hold me, that’s what I needed.” This line relates to Amir because all he wanted was for Baba to adore him like he adored Hassan. That’s how Samantha Wright Pd. 4 10/20/09 this song relates to The Kite Runner. The last song on this CD is called I Turn to You by Christina Aguilera. This song describes a strong friendship, such as Amir and Hassan’s relationship. One line that really relates to this novel is “for a shield, from the storm for a friend, for a love to keep me safe and warm, I turn to you.” In my opinion this line really describes how Amir relied on Hassan to be his right hand man and to stick up for him as a child. Another line that stuck out at me was “you’re always there, giving me all you’ve got.” This line describes that as children Amir and Hassan helped eachother out, well Hassan mostly helped Amir out. That’s how I Turn to You relates to The Kite Runner.
