Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner: A Socratic Seminar
What is Socratic Seminar? Socratic seminar is a class discussion, following the Socratic
method, which aids students in reaching a deeper analysis of a text or concept by questioning and
working to define certain terms.
Essential Questions: Redemption is the act of atonement for guilt. To what extent is redemption
for past wrongs possible?
Complete the Additional Questions & Your Questions sections below to aid you in bringing
relevant material to class discussion. These questions and responses should be prepared in
advance in HARD COPY for Wednesday, September 24, either printed or handwritten.

Question One: How should a reader interpret the title The Kite Runner? Cite proof from the

Question Two: Is Rahim Khan correct when he says, “true redemption is…when guilt leads to
good” (Hosseini 302)? Why or why not?
