October 30th:
Summative Essay DUE!
WK 1- TTE: Happiness Vs. Discontent
One theme in this book is happiness vs. discontentment. Are the people in the Fahrenheit 451 society happy?
What does true happiness look like? Which characters are happy and why? Which characters are unhappy and
why? Evaluate the happiness of our own society. Do we suffer from some of the same maladies that infect the
Fahrenheit 451 society?
WK 2-TTE: Hero or Anti-hero
“I'm saying to be a hero is means you step across the line and are willing to make a sacrifice, so heroes always
are making a sacrifice. Heroes always take a risk. Heroes always deviant. Heroes always doing something that
most people don't” –Phillip Zimbardo
In society, do we have to sacrifice to be the hero? Consider this idea of heroism and sacrifice by applying it to
one of the character from the novel.
WK 3—TTE: Warning! Warning!
The novel was a warning to society at the time it was written. What does this novel have to teach us about the
cost of belonging? More specifically, what is the novel a warning against and how can the novel still be used as
a warning to people in America today.
