SHOW RULES and INFORMATION
1). This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering, competing,
showing or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS are subject to the
Constitution and Rules of the BSPS, including disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have
consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS. All Rules as per the 2015 BSPS Rule & Show handbook. See
BSPS website (www.bsps.com) for any amendments.
2). All horses and ponies must be four years old or over.
3). This is a qualifying show for the BSPS SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW to be held from 26th 29th August 2015 at Arena UK, Allington Lane, Allington, Grantham, Lincs. NG322EF
QUALIFICATION FOR THE B.S.P.S. SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
4). The 1st and 2nd placed animals in class 3-5, 7, 21, 22, 24-26 and 43-46 the 1st to 3rd in class 2, 6,
12—15, 28, 31, 32, 34—38, and 47 and the 1st to 4th in classes 1, 20, and 42 will qualify for the BSPS
Championship Show, provided the animal is registered in accordance with Rules 23 and 28 and ridden by
a BSPS member.
4b) * NEW ! Classes 34, 35, 36a, 36b, 37 & 38 are QUALIFIERS for a SEMI FINAL – to be held at
the BLUE CHIP NATIVE BSPS HERITAGE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW at Arena UK. 1st & 2nd
from each class will Qualify. Ponies, Owners & Riders must be BSPS Members before the date of
the show to compete in OLYMPIA classes. *
5). The best rider in classes 2-7, 12—15, 21, 22, 24—26, 28, 31, 32, 34—38, 39 and 43—47 will receive
a Best Rider Card and qualify for the final of the BSPS “Black Country Saddles” Best Rider of the
Year at the BSPS Summer Championship Show. Heritage riders not to have attained their 25th Birthday
before 1st January in the current year.
6. This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Premier League to be held at the BSPS Summer Championship
Show. The 1st to 4th placed ponies in classes 2-7, 12—15, 21, 22, 24—26, 28, 31,32, 34—38, 39 and
43—47 will qualify.
7. This show is a qualifier for the BSPS “Classic Security (UK) Ltd” Challenge to be held at the BSPS
Summer Championship Show. The highest placed pony in classes 2-7, 12—15, 21,22, 24—26, 28,
31,32, 34—38, 39, and 43—47 that has not qualified for the BSPS 2014 Horse of the Year Show in the
appropriate class will qualify. If the highest placed pony has already qualified for the BSPS Challenge,
the qualification will be awarded to the next eligible pony.
*NEW. “Heritage Wow Factor” Ponies that are placed 1st in Open Heritage Classes qualify for the
“Winners of Winners” at the BSPS SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW.
8. This is a qualifying show for the PONIES ASSOCIATION (UK) Supreme Championships to be
held on 24th-26th July 2015 at Bury Farm E.C. Slapton, LU7 9BT and P(UK) Winter Classic at Bury
Farm 2016. For Championship schedules please refer to www.poniesuk.org or call the Ponies UK office
on 01480 277120. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each of the qualifying classes 3-5, 19, 21,22, 24-26, 28, 39,
43-46, 47,48 & 49 will qualify for the 2015 P(UK) Supreme National Championships 2015, Winter
Classic 2016 & Equifest. Competitors in qualifying positions, who are not current members of Ponies
(UK) must become a member before the time of entry.*Qualification tickets will be awarded in the ring &
Gold Tickets will be awarded to the champion of each section. Placings will be confirmed by results sent
in by the secretary.
9. Riders must be 12 years old and over on 1st January in the current year to ride any pony stallion not
exceeding 138cms or Small Breed M&M Stallions i.e. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh Section A &
B. Riders must be 14 years old and over on 1st January in the current year to ride any Stallion exceeding
138cms or Large Breed M&M Stallions i.e. Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highland, New Forest, Welsh
Section C & D.
10. This show is affiliated to EQUIFEST taking place at the EAST OF ENGLAND
SHOWGROUND, on 12th-16th August 2015.. The two highest placed exhibits not already qualified in
the following classes will qualify. Classes:- 2 – 5. Classes 19, 21 & 22. Classes 24,26,& 28. Classes 39,
43 – 46 & 47. 48 & 49.

11. Correctly secured British Standard Skull Caps/Riding Hats Nos. EN 1384, PAS015/ (USA) ASTM
F1163 that meet current safety standards must be worn at all times whilst mounted.
12. Only tack that is permissible in the ring in BSPS classes is allowed to be used on the showground
when mounted.
13. This Show is run with due regard to Health and Safety. The primary contact on the day will be Mrs
Claire Wisbey. It is in the best interests of all exhibitors and spectators that they comply with any request,
verbal or written, from any Show Official which pertains to Health and Safety matters. Any accident must
be reported to a Show Official as soon as possible. First Aiders will be on duty for all classes.
14. Neither the organisers nor the owners of the property will be responsible or liable for any loss
accident or damage to any persons or their property.
15. Animals may not compete in both the BSPS 153cms WHP Class and the BSPS Intermediate Working
Hunter Class at the same show, except at the RIHS
16. PRIZE MONEY.- 1st = £5, 2nd = £3, 3rd = £2 If less than 5 in a class only 1st prize money will be
given. A prize money card will be awarded in the ring. Prize money in classes 34, 35, 36a, 36b, 37 & 38

was an inspiration to so many riders. It is designed to be light hearted and fun and allow
competitors to express their showmanship skills. A freestyle, individual show of not more than
2 minutes. To be judged on presentation and showmanship, (not conformation), by a panel
of three judges and marks out of 10 will be displayed in the ring “Strictly Style”

THE BLUE CHIP NATIVE BSPS HERITAGE SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP OPEN
RIDDEN CLASSES
Ponies, Owners and Riders must be B.S.P.S. Members before the date of the Show to compete in
the OLYMPIA CLASSES. Classes will be judged under B.S.P.S. rules as per the 2015 Rule &
Show Handbook. Animals must be the correct height for the breed as laid down in the individual
breed standards.
To be judged on 50/50 marks system :-.

Class 39 The B.S.P.S. Open Lead Rein Pony Of Hunter Type. Mare or gelding, 4 years old
or over, not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 9th Birthday before 1st January
in the current year. To be led by an attendant and shown in a suitable snaffle bridle; the lead rein
to be attached to the nose-band only. This class is a qualifier for the P(UK) Timberwolf SHP
of the year Supreme Championship 2015 & Winter Classic 2016 and also Equifest
SHP/LR 2015

Class 41 The B.S.P.S. Novice Intermediate Show Hunter Type. Mare or gelding, 4 years old
or over exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms. Riders not to have attained their 25th
Birthday before 1st January in the current year.
Class 42 The B.S.P.S. Mixed Height Novice Show Hunter Pony. Mare or gelding, 4 years
old or over not exceeding 153cms. Riders must be the correct age for the height of pony they
ride.
Class 43 The B.S.P.S. Open Show Hunter Pony. Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over not
exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before the lst January in the
current year.
Class 44 The B.S.P.S Open Show Hunter Pony. Mare or gelding 4 years old or over,
exceeding 122cms but not exceeding 133cms. Riders not to have attained their 14th birthday
before the lst January in the current year.
Class 45 The B.S.P.S Open Show Hunter Pony. Mare or gelding 4 years old and over
exceeding 133cms and not exceeding 143cms. Riders not to have attained their 17th birthday
before the lst January in the current year.

society stud book of Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, Welsh A or B. To be shown in
any suitable bridle. Rider not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current
year.
Also a qualifier for “The Natalie Bird” Equifest M&M F/R 2015
Class 50 *Unaffiliated Beginners First Ridden.* Plaited or M&M mare or gelding 4yrs old or
over, not exc.128cms. Riders must be 4yrs old but not over 8yrs old. In the individual show,
cantering is optional but no figure of eight or change of rein required. Ponies will not be stripped.
*An attendant may be in the ring but the pony must not be led.* Rosettes to all competitors.
Please note riders entered in this class may not enter in any other class at this show, that is
off the lead rein.
**This is a small and friendly show, so please note, we will do our best to prevent any of
your classes from clashing. Please inform the collecting ring steward and or show
secretary, if you believe this may happen. Remember the “Strictly Class is individual, so
you should be able to pop in and do your show when you can…within reason !! **
