The Program: The Human Resource Association of Broward County (HRABC)
has established a scholarship program to help finance professional
development and higher education for current members; and higher
education for children of current members and students that are current
members of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student
chapters affiliated with HRABC. The scholarships are managed by the HRABC
Board of Directors (Board). The scholarships, if awarded, will be given without
regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, disability, age, or national origin.
Partner(s): Right Management has partnered with HRABC to provide
scholarship funds to honor the memory of Dr. David F. Blank.
Eligibility: Applicants must be one of the following:

Current HRABC member in good standing

Children of members of HRABC enrolled in a full-time course of study
at an accredited four-year college or university in a declared Psychology
major, or in a Human Resource or Human Resource related major area
of study.

Student members of the local Student Chapters affiliated with
HRABC. The current Student Chapters affiliated with HRABC are Barry
University, DeVry University and Nova Southeastern University.
Scholarship Award: Award $750 - $1500 to the award recipient(s) and may
only be used for professional development seminars, courses or programs of
study applicable to the Human Resource body of knowledge leading to
Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) certification; or for
undergraduate or graduate study in a declared Psychology major or in a
Human Resource or Human Resource related major only.
Application: All applicants must complete the application and e-mail it to
Mary Muniz-Pellicer- HRABC Student Chapter Director. Student applicants
must also submit a complete official college transcript of
grades. Applications must have been received no later than December
4, 2015. Applicants are solely responsible for gathering and submitting all
necessary information. All information submitted is confidential and will be
reviewed only by the review committee established by the Board.
Recipient Selection: The professional development scholarship recipient is
selected on the basis of leadership, participation in community activities
(including volunteer work), work experience and statement of career
goals. The Student scholarship recipient is selected on the basis of academic
achievement, leadership and participation in school and community activities,
honors, and work experience and statement of educational and career goals.
The scholarship awards will be based on selection criteria and available
funds. Not all applicants will receive awards. Selection of award recipient will
be made by the review committee established by the Board. In no instance
does any member or officer of SHRM play a part in the selection. The
decision regarding the award of the scholarship is at the sole discretion of the
HRABC Board Review Committee. The HRABC Board Review Committee
decision is final and non-reviewable. All applicants will be notified of their
status in early December 2015.
Payment of Awards: Scholarship payments awards will be authorized and
processed by HRABC. Payment of awards will be made in accordance with
schedules approved by the Board. Checks are mailed to the recipient's home
address and are made payable to the school for the student and/or vendor
for the professional development.
Obligations: Scholarship recipients must be currently enrolled in professional
development courses or their educational program of the year in which their
award is given. Recipients have no obligations to HRABC. They are, however,
required to provide HRABC's Student Chapter Director with current official
transcripts and to notify HRABC's Student Chapter Director of any changes of
address, school enrollment or other pertinent information which may affect
the status of the applicant's consideration for the scholarship.
Revision Policy: The general conditions and procedures under which this
scholarship program is made may be subject to periodic review by the Board,
including revision, revocation and termination of the program.
