SOMETHING
TO SUPPORT THE EFFORTS TO
END HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Major Jessyca Elgart, MSW

What we are doing nationally & in the west
What we have done
What you can do
Why?
Are you
Mission Driven
or
Grant Driven?
It’s Who We Are
While women weep as they do now,
I’ll Fight!
While little children go hungry as thy do now,
I’ll Fight!
While men go to prison in and out in and out,
as they do now,
I’ll Fight!
While there is a drunkard left,
While there is a poor lost girl upon the streets,
While there remains one dark soul without the
light of God ,
I’ll Fight!
I’ll fight to the very end!

That’s Great! But…
We don’t have a program in my division.
I have a lot on my plate already.
How do we get our corps involved?
Do I need a grant to “Do Something?”
You don’t need a “program”…

What other organizations are combatting
human trafficking in your division? Your city?
Your corps?

What needs do they have?

What are their efforts and how can Salvationists participate?

Is there a Task Force or advocacy group that is in need of help?

Enhanced Collaborative Model to
Combat Human Trafficking.
The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Office for Victims of
Crime (OVC) are pleased to announce the release of a Fiscal Year (FY)
2012 competitive solicitation
This FY 2012 program will fund Enhanced Collaborative Model Task
Force sites established to take a comprehensive approach to combating
all forms of human trafficking—sex trafficking and labor trafficking of
foreign nationals and U.S. citizens (male and female, adults and
minors). BJA is expected to make awards to support law enforcement
agencies to coordinate the goals, objectives, and activities of the
entire task force in close collaboration with the local U.S. Attorney’s
Office and a victim service provider partner. OVC will make awards
to support victim service organizations to coordinate the provision of a
comprehensive array of culturally and linguistically appropriate
services to all trafficking victims identified within the geographic area
impacted by the task force.
