Prerequisite Course:
Chemistry 11
Description/Rationale
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to meet
the entrance requirements for university programs. It emphasizes both independent
research skills and independent learning skills. In addition, it focuses on the concepts and
theories that form the basis of modern chemistry. Students will study the quantitative
aspect of chemistry through stoichiometric examination; investigate the different forces of
attraction involved in matter and how it influences their properties; and explore how
organic chemistry is used in developing new products and processes that affect our lives
