Counseling
• Appointments can be made at any time to see the counselor.
• Pre-programming will take place at your student’s current
middle school.
• Parents are encouraged to be present during the preprogramming session.
• If you do not fill out a pre-programming form, please make sure
to stop by the counseling office as soon as possible.
• Please review and discuss your student’s pre-programming
class options. Once the pre-programming form has been signed
and submitted we make a strong effort to obtain that schedule
for our students, thus making class changes after the fact
difficult and at times impossible.

Introduction to
Computer Applications
• Comp App (or Computer Applications) is considered to
be a very important skill to possess in developed
countries. Employers want their workers to have
computer skills due to advancements in digital
technology.
• “Heck ya, you need it to graduate!”-Joshua Villegas
• Freshman Year
to
Senior Year
• The ability to use common programs such as
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel or
specialized programs, can mean that you have
advanced computer skills that other candidates
do not.
• Computer Applications is important because highlevel jobs today require these skills.
• Comp App is a required class
for graduating
• Therefore you will get to meet
Teachers such as . . . .
• “Without adequate computer
skills you will not be able to
succeed in the 21 century”Mr. Rianda
Mr. Rianda! What a nice guy!
• And you can’t forget chill
teachers such as . . .
• “Technology-enter the world
of learning.”-Mrs. Reed
Mrs. Reed!
What program will be used
To Teach You How To Type?
• MicroType of course!
• It will teach you to type efficiently
(if you do it right) with interactive
games and activities.
What Else?
• You will learn to properly use
Microsoft Word
• You will learn how to type letters
as well as format essays.
• You can use this skill not only for
the work force but for your other
classes!
What it all boils down to
• It is a required class, but it teaches
you valuable skills that will carry
over to not only your other classes
but when you apply for a job.
SO HAVE FUN WITH IT!!

Freshman Seminar
Freshman Seminar
Course Description
 Freshman Seminar is a course designed to successfully
transition students from middle school to high school.
Students are not able to sign-up for this course, but will be
enrolled by our counselor, Mr. Martin, if he feels that your
child would benefit from it. This course gives students
strategies for effective time management, study skills, goal
setting skills, and organizational techniques that will aid
them on their path to graduation. Students will also
conduct career research and college research to facilitate
their career plan.

Link Crew
Link Crew
Course Description
 Link Crew is a peer mentoring program that we offer
at KCHS. Every freshman will be paired with Junior
and Senior Link Crew Leaders who have been trained
to help your child adapt to high school and achieve
success. Your child will meet their Link Crew Leader
on Link Crew Orientation Day in August—which is
very different from our Freshmen Orientation—this
day will be a TON of fun. Your child should expect to
receive an invitation to this event towards the end of
summer.

Athletic activities are:
Vital to the positive social, physical, and educational development of students.
An integral part of a comprehensive high school program.
A privilege to be enjoyed by those students who demonstrate the qualities of good citizenship and sound academic
performance.
Athletic activities are in place to:
Help the individual student develop a healthy self-concept and a healthy body.
Encourage leadership, use of initiative and good judgment.
Develop habits and interests which will enable participants to use their leisure time in the best interest of themselves
and their community.
Have our student athletes experience the joy and satisfaction which comes from winning on the field, but not at the
expense of character development, good sportsmanship, physical well-being, positive self-esteem, and personal
academic success.
Most sports have off-season/year-round conditioning
and skill development opportunities. Contact Coach
or Athletic Director for dates and times.
