ST. BONIFACE NEWS
ST. BONIFACE SCHOOL NEWS - Registration for St. Boniface Catholic School is now open!
Registration packets are available in the school office. If you are interested in a quality, faith-based education
for your child, St. Boniface School is the place for you. If you are curious about the work that we do here,
please come in for a personalized tour. We can answer all of your questions and concerns. We are also taking applications
for our new Preschool program. Registration forms and information can be found in the church lobby.
Salad Barista Opportunity - We are in need of a volunteer to work the salad bar during the Fish Fries. This would involve
organizing salads before the dinner and refilling them throughout the evening. This is a wonderful chance to show your
culinary creativity. If you can fill in during one, two or all of the Fish Fries please contact Mary Ellen Rosiak at 419-8984312 or 419-898-1340.
LENTEN FISH FRIES TO START FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15TH - In the last few years we have added
the “salad bar” to our fish fries and it has been a big hit with everyone. Would you be willing to donate a
salad, any variety you wish – tossed green lettuce, oriental, seven layer, pasta, or your own secret recipe?
Salads prepared in a deep lasagna style foil pan would be appreciated. Please remember NO MEAT (i.e.
Bacon bits). The dates are February 15 & 22, March 1, 8, 15 & 22. Also, we are in need of desserts. If you
wish to donate a dessert please make it to serve 16 or more. Pies, layered cakes and iced cookies are much enjoyed. Thank
you for your continued Support! If you have a fish fry sign please remember to put it up no sooner than February 10th.
FOOD PANTRY ITEMS - Needed for the month of February are Pancake Mix and Syrup, Hamburger Helper or
any other types of Noodles. There are boxes located at the two main Church and School entrances. These items will

Notes from Fr. David: Now it Begins!....Last week we talked about how Jesus was "on a roll" and everyone
Loved him and was impressed by his wisdom and actions...and then, he boldly mentioned that the Scripture he
just read was now "fulfilled". Wow...what a statement. In this weeks Gospel he boldly makes statements and
challenges that incite the Temple goers to the point that they push him to the edge of the cliff, wanting to throw
him over it head first....but he is able to slip away. I can just hear some of his disciples saying..."Jesus, you had
to go and ruin it didn't you...everything was just fine and now they want to kill us". But Jesus knew that to truly
begin his ministry meant that he would make waves and cause discord, but he did it anyway. Doing and saying
the "right thing" always has it's consequences. We must be willing to stand up for the truth even though it may
cause us discomfort.
TOLEDO DIOCESAN ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL This weekend we heard Bishop Blair kick off the Annual ACA
Campaign. Our goals this year are as follows: St. Boniface $14,000. (Last year we collected $18,400. Our Lady of
Lourdes $12,000. (Last year we collected $13,900.) We have always gone above and beyond for this campaign and I
know that our generosity will continue. Next week is commitment weekend and there will be envelopes in the pews
along with letters that you receive through the mail. Thank You for your Kindness!
UPDATE ON OUR LADY OF LOURDES REPLACEMENT OF HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING, REPLACEMENT OF
THE CARPET, AND REPLACEMENT OF SANCTUARY FURNISHINGS: A FINAL BID HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO
THE DIOCESE FOR APPROVAL. INSIDE IMPROVEMENTS ARE WAITING ON SOME BIDS TO COME IN SOON AND
THEN CARPET CHOICES WILL BE SHOWN TO THE PARISH FOR APPROVAL. A LETTER HAS ALSO BEEN SENT
TO BISHOP BLAIR ASKING TO BEGIN COLLECTING FUNDS TO PAY FOR THE PROJECT. NORMALLY NO
CAMPAIGN IS PERMITTED DURING THE ACA FUND DRIVE, BUT GIVEN OUR PAST PERFORMANCE DONATING TO
THE ACA WE WILL BE PERMITTED, ONCE APPROVED, TO RAISE THE MONEY NEEDED WITH THE CONDITION
THAT THE ACA GOAL IS REACHED. LOOK FOR MORE INFORMATION SOON TO COME.
MAY GOD
CONTINUE TO BLESS US!
LOVE, FR. DAVID
