From the pink Syllabus: Chemistry is the science of matter, which is what all things are made of.
Students will study water, metals, petroleum and air. To do this, students will investigate a fish kill,
improve a coin design, promote an alternative energy vehicle, and improve a high school bus-idling
policy. The main objective of the course is to improve students’ science college readiness skills (CRS)
through chemistry. The CRS being taught will be practiced in class and tested on Growth Quizzes and
Interim Assessments; CRS growth is measured on the midyear and end-of-year ACTs.
