Step Two: Extension (in your groups): “Interpreter of Maladies” and “The Ways We Lie”
1. Define maladies and explain how the various lies contribute to Mrs. Das, Mr. Kapasi, Mr. Das, and the
boys' maladies.
2. Provide 3 examples from the story and explain how each fit in to Ericsson's types of lies (think not only
about lying to others but also about lying to oneself).
